Our client is an organization in the Greater Milwaukee area looking for an Accountant . Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated accounting professional to support daily accounting activities, financial reporting, and month-end processes. This position offers the opportunity to gain experience across multiple areas of accounting while working closely with an established accounting team. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and a desire to continue developing their accounting knowledge and experience.

The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with daily accounting activities to ensure accurate and timely financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies as needed.
• Maintain accurate general ledger balances and supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy and appropriate account classification.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and cash-related accounting transactions.
• Analyze account activity and help identify unusual balances or variances.
• Maintain accounting schedules and supporting financial records.
• Collaborate with internal departments to research and resolve accounting questions.
• Assist with audit preparation and provide requested financial documentation.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities as needed.
• Ensure accounting activities follow established policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and overall efficiency.
• Assist with special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as assigned.

The Accountant will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Approximately 1+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Candidates with relevant internship experience or strong academic backgrounds will also be considered.
• Foundational understanding of general accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting preferred.
• Familiarity with month-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Self-motivated and dependable with a willingness to take initiative.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
• Eagerness to learn new accounting processes and expand technical skills.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic with an interest in long-term professional growth.
