Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks undergraduate engineering students for a development engineering co-op in Rochester, New York. The role involves cross-functional product development, design analysis, process optimization, and equipment qualification for plastic processing and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Participate in cross-functional teams to develop new products and manufacturing processes
- Contribute to product and packaging design through design reviews and manufacturing optimization
- Conduct processing trials using DOE methods and design analysis tools to optimize variables
- Execute equipment qualification studies (FAT, IQ, OQ, PQ) and document technical results
- Support measurement system analysis, dimensional studies, and process verification activities
Requirements
- Undergraduate pursuing Bachelor's in Mechanical or Plastics Engineering, graduating December 2027–June 2029
- Proven leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, military service, or community involvement
- Previous co-ops, internships, or related work experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Geographic flexibility and reliable transportation to work location
- Learning agility, intellectual curiosity, and innovative mindset
Compensation: $18.50–$28.75 hourly; $5,000 relocation stipend if eligible
