Circle Of Security Program Social Worker
The Circle of Security program is a partnership among UTHealth, BakerRipley, and the Infant Toddler Court Team in Fort Bend County designed to increase caregiver knowledge of early childhood development and well-being while teaching parents the relational and emotional needs of young children using the Circle of Security Parenting™ (COSP™) model. Based on decades of attachment research, COSP™ helps caregivers strengthen emotional and relational security in parent-child relationships by understanding and supporting children's core developmental needs.
This role conducts comprehensive psychosocial assessments to evaluate patients' and youths' social, emotional, environmental, and financial needs, administers standardized screening tools, and identifies strengths and areas for growth to inform individualized care or intervention plans. The position develops treatment goals, coordinates referrals to appropriate professionals or community agencies, and collaborates with physicians, school staff, and multidisciplinary teams to support continuity of care, monitor progress, and address barriers to participation. Responsibilities include facilitating group-based social-emotional learning sessions, providing brief individual support, delivering crisis intervention and conflict resolution, and documenting sessions, outcomes, and student participation in accordance with program requirements. Additional duties involve preparing detailed reports, educating healthcare providers on community resources and psychosocial factors, engaging external social service and welfare agencies, responding to emergencies, and performing other assigned tasks.
Residency in the Houston-Metro area, in-person service delivery in Fort Bend and Harris counties, and a valid driver's license are crucial. Mileage reimbursement is included.

Position Summary:
Independently provides professional social work services within community-based organizations and partner sites using an attachment-based framework. Facilitates Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) groups to support caregivers in strengthening secure relationships with their children. Promotes reflective parenting practices and helps caregivers better understand and respond to their children's emotional and behavioral needs to foster resilience, secure attachment, and healthy family relationships. The social worker addresses psychiatric and social concerns by using a CBT modality to assess, evaluate, implement, monitor, advocate and implement services for patients and their families.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Conducts comprehensive assessments with children and adolescents to interpret families' social, emotional, environmental, and financial needs, and identifies factors that may impact caregiver-child relationships and family well-being. 2. Plans course of treatment or refers cases to appropriate professionals, institutions or agencies to ensure that caregivers receive appropriate services and support. 3. Obtains data from patients and/or relatives in the best interest of their problems to assist in the development of a number of significant teaching endeavors, programs, and social services. 4. With the objective of meeting total patient care, assess patients and/or relatives to gain an understanding of the individual's problems and needs. Collaborates with the physician and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate care, enhance the patient experience and achieve collaborative goals. Collaboratively develops patient goals, monitors progress, addresses barriers to goal achievement, and evaluates outcomes of individualized care plans. Conducts individual and or group counseling. 5. Provides brief therapeutic interventions (up to 4 sessions) and extended care (up to 20 sessions) focused on trauma, utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities. 6. Maintains all documentation in multiple data management systems in a timely manner. 7. Provides education to staff, community partners, and service providers on community resources and the impact of psychosocial factors on family well-being. 8. Utilizes crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and mediation to address patient/family concerns. 9. Responds to emergency situations. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW) by State of Texas required
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by State of Texas preferred
Minimum Education:
Bachelor Degree in Social Work or related field. MSW preferred.
Minimum Experience:
One year of social work experience required. Medical social work experience is preferred.
Experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), group therapy, and working with families preferred. Bilingual a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
