Commercial Lighting TechnicianThe Commercial Lighting Technician is responsible for performing interior and exterior lighting retrofit projects at commercial and retail facilities. This position involves removing and replacing existing lighting components and fixtures, installing LED lighting systems, and completing lighting upgrades in accordance with project specifications and company safety standards.Lighting Technicians work primarily in active commercial and retail environments and must be comfortable performing work from ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other approved elevated work platforms.This position requires travel to customer locations and project sites and may include daytime, evening, overnight, and weekend work depending on customer and project requirements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform commercial and retail lighting retrofit installationsRemove and replace existing lamps, ballasts, drivers, fixtures, and related lighting componentsInstall LED lamps, retrofit kits, fixtures, drivers, sensors, and lighting controlsPerform both interior and exterior lighting upgradesIdentify existing lighting equipment and verify replacement components against project specificationsAssemble, install, and replace commercial lighting fixtures and componentsPerform basic lighting troubleshooting and identify defective componentsTest completed installations to verify proper operationFollow project drawings, fixture schedules, site documentation, and instructions provided by the Foreman or Project ManagerSafely operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other aerial work platformsPerform work from ladders and elevated work platformsWork safely around customers, store employees, merchandise, shelving, equipment, vehicles, and other contractorsMaintain clean and organized work areas throughout the projectProtect customer property and merchandise while performing workProperly handle, stage, and dispose of removed lamps, fixtures, packaging, and other project materialsAssist with loading, unloading, staging, and inventorying project materialsComplete required project documentation, photographs, and other electronic reportingCommunicate project issues, material shortages, damaged equipment, or unexpected site conditions to the ForemanFollow all Reliable Electric and Lighting, customer, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirementsProperly use required personal protective equipment (PPE)Attend required safety meetings and trainingPerform other related duties as assignedJob RequirementsPrevious commercial lighting, electrical, construction, maintenance, or similar field experience preferredExperience with commercial lighting retrofit work strongly preferredFamiliarity with LED lighting systems and common commercial lighting components preferredAbility and willingness to work at heightsAbility to safely work from ladders, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and aerial work platformsAbility to obtain and maintain required aerial lift certificationsAbility to use hand tools and power tools safelyAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsAbility to read basic project drawings, fixture schedules, and installation instructionsAbility to work effectively as part of a project teamAbility to maintain productivity while performing repetitive retrofit installationsAbility to communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and store personnelAbility to use a smartphone or tablet for project documentation and communicationDependable attendance and ability to report to assigned projects as scheduledAbility and willingness to travel as required by project assignmentsAbility to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts when requiredValid driver's license and acceptable driving record when driving is required for the positionMust successfully complete all required pre-employment screeningPhysical RequirementsThis position requires regular physical activity associated with commercial lighting installation and construction work. Employees must be able to:Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and work overheadRegularly climb and work from laddersWork from scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other elevated work platformsWork at significant heights while utilizing required fall-protection equipmentFrequently use hands and arms to operate tools and install equipment above shoulder levelLift, carry, position, and install lighting fixtures, tools, equipment, and materialsRegularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical means used when appropriate for heavier or awkward loadsWork for extended periods while standing or performing overhead tasksSafely enter, exit, and maneuver within aerial lifts and other equipmentWork EnvironmentLighting Technicians perform work in a variety of commercial environments, including retail stores, warehouses, parking lots, building exteriors, loading areas, and other customer facilities.Employees may be exposed to:Indoor and outdoor weather conditionsHot and cold temperaturesElevated work areasConstruction and maintenance environmentsDust, noise, and other normal jobsite conditionsActive customer and vehicle trafficNighttime and overnight working conditionsEmployees are expected to recognize jobsite hazards, follow established safety procedures, and immediately report unsafe conditions to their Foreman or supervisor.
