Controls Hardware Engineer

Salary: $90,000 - 130,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree preferred
• At least three years of experience designing industrial control systems; experience with hydraulic and mechanical power presses and press automation systems is preferred
• Knowledge of Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, and Studio 5000 is a plus
• Knowledge of Siemens S7F and S5 is a plus
• Experience with industrial networking protocols such as PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, and EtherCAT
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and E-Plan P8
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010 and general computer skills, with the ability to learn new software
• Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP
• Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally
• Ability to lead technical discussions and deliver clear, informative presentations
• Strong analytical skills, time management, organization, and communication skills
• Customer-focused, adaptable, self-motivated, and results-oriented, with sound independent judgment
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic business environment and collaborate to resolve problems and achieve goals
• Fluent English, including advanced reading and writing skills; German language skills are a plus
• Visa holders and individuals for whom English is a second language must take the TOEFL exam and achieve a passing score

• Design and develop control-system layouts, including PLC, PC, HMI, safety, and communications hardware
• Prepare bills of materials in our ERP system and create and approve hardware schematics
• Apply relevant standards and customer requirements, including local and national safety standards such as OSHA, ANSI, and CSA
• Research and apply technologies that improve our competitiveness
• Help our Field Service Group prepare for installations and system updates
• Troubleshoot technical issues with field service technicians and engineers
• Assist with onsite installations and occasional service calls
• Attend customer sales or project meetings as needed
• Manage assigned projects as directed by the Service Engineering Manager
• Provide technical information to Customer Service Representatives for spare-parts orders and support new machine sales when requested
• Work with customers to resolve technical issues and concerns
• Perform other duties within the scope of this role as assigned
