The Department of Business and Industry is recruiting to fill a Financial Institutions Examiner 3 position within the Financial Institutions Division in Las Vegas. Responsibilities Serve as a lead examiner, overseeing day‑to‑day activities of financial institution examinations. Coordinate team members’ overall and specific work assignments, on‑the‑job training, and compliance with established procedures. Collect, correlate, and analyze information to write the Report of Examination, and present findings to institution’s management and board of directors. Review prior examinations, correspondence, and documents to develop an exam plan. Ensure compliance with regulatory licensing requirements for depository, trust, lending, collection, 1031 exchange, and money transmission entities. Conduct entrance and exit meetings with institution management to answer questions, verify facts, and discuss findings. Review activities, evaluate audits, and analyze the financial and operating condition of each institution to assess safety and soundness. Analyze key safety and soundness components, ratios, and trends; review adequacy of capital, assets, and liabilities; assess viability of loans and investments; evaluate management policy and procedures, earnings, and liquidity; determine market and interest rate sensitivity; examine interest rates and fees applied; verify cash, deposit, and share account balances. Prepare and assimilate reports from assisting examiners and produce the final report detailing findings and recommendations, and coordinate appropriate corrective measures. Review, investigate, and process licenses for newly approved institutions and license renewals; make recommendations for acceptance or denial; respond to informational inquiries and complaints; conduct follow‑up investigations; and take enforcement actions or refer to the criminal division when warranted. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or a related discipline and at least two years of experience conducting audits or examinations; OR one year as a Financial Institutions Examiner II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a specialty certification issued by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) and/or the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS). Must have, under limited supervision, the ability to serve as lead on examinations in a specialty area, coordinate work assignments, conduct on‑the‑job training, analyze issues, develop action plans, conduct independent examinations, and coordinate rehabilitation efforts of troubled organizations. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of: scoping, developing, and conducting financial examinations; verification of records, work papers, and related financial statements; proper documentation methods; detection of records variances; federal and state laws and regulations governing financial activities and establishments; operating trends and affiliated business transactions to determine solvency and regulatory compliance. Ability to: serve as the lead on examinations in a specialty area; coordinate work assignments; conduct on‑the‑job training; analyze issues; develop action plans to complete examinations; conduct independent examinations; and plan and coordinate rehabilitation efforts of troubled organizations. #J-18808-Ljbffr State of Nevada (NV)
