What the role is about The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations of the California joint venture, including financial reporting, internal controls, technical accounting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and external reporting requirements. This role plays a key leadership position within the finance organization, partnering closely with executive management, auditors, and business unit leaders to ensure timely, accurate, and transparent financial information. The role reports to the Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer. The ideal candidate must reside in Nevada but works remotely. Impact you’ll make Financial Reporting & Compliance Lead preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts Oversee all external audit processes Accounting Operations Supervise and develop the accounting team responsible for accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, revenue recognition, and fixed assets Lead inventory cost accounting Lead ERP implementation Establish and maintain robust internal controls over financial reporting (SOX readiness if applicable) Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes to ensure timeliness and accuracy Implement and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and systems to improve efficiency and financial accuracy Technical Accounting & Policy Research and implement complex accounting standards, including ASC 718, ASC 805, ASC 470, ASC 842, and other emerging standards Lead accounting for acquisitions, restructurings, and financing transactions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax reporting in coordination with external advisors Strategic & Cross‑Functional Leadership Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, HR, and Operations teams to support strategic decision‑making and forecasting Support M&A due diligence, purchase accounting, and post‑acquisition integration Drive automation and process improvements across the accounting and reporting functions Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on accounting, controls, and financial reporting matters Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required Experience 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a manager level position or higher Strong background in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and public company accounting Experience in a Big 4 or national public accounting firm strongly preferred Prior experience in cannabis, manufacturing, and consumer packaged goods preferred Skills & Attributes Exceptional technical accounting knowledge and analytical ability Proven leadership and team management skills Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex accounting topics to non‑accountants High attention to detail, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics preferred) and advanced Excel skills What we offer $180,000‑$225,000 annual base salary D.O.E. and competitive performance‑based bonus Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Hybrid work schedule Flexible PTO policy with 18 days in your first year EEO Statement Vireo Health, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. #J-18808-Ljbffr
