Transform raw stock into life-improving medical instruments

You’ll own the full Swiss-style turning process—from first setup to final inspection—on precision parts used in instruments and implants. Each shift, you’ll stage material, dial in tools, validate programs, and keep the spindles cutting while quality and delivery stay on target.

A day in this role

You arrive with a production plan and a queue of work orders in the ERP. You load tools and fixtures, perform changeovers, and step through CNC program debugging. You’ll make careful machine offsets and adjustments, then begin production—monitoring throughput with our machine monitoring system and logging in-process results electronically. You deburr, finish, and verify dimensions with calipers, micrometers, height stands, and comparators. When you spot a gap, you solve it: tweak feeds/speeds, collaborate with programmers, or improve a setup sheet. Between runs, you guide teammates, update documentation through change control, and help stand up NPI parts so they hit first-pass yield and ship on time.

What you’ll own

• Swiss-style lathe setups and changeovers, tool loading, offsets, and CNC program debugging.
• Operation and basic maintenance of CNC Swiss machines plus finishing equipment, hand tools, and fixtures; burr removal to spec.
• Reading blueprints, inspection check-sheets, and work instructions to align process to print.
• Precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, height stands, and comparators.
• Managing work through ERP and machine monitoring; completing electronic quality checks.
• Partnering with CNC programmers; keeping setup documentation current via change control.
• Coaching peers to maximize machine utilization and production attainment; assisting with training.
• Pursuing continuous improvement for quality and delivery; executing the plan for on-time shipments.

What you’ll bring

• High School Diploma or equivalent (advanced technical training preferred).
• 5+ years operating Swiss-style lathes in manufacturing.
• Hands-on time with Citizen, Tsugami, or comparable Swiss platforms (preferred).
• Deep knowledge of machinery, tooling, measuring, and gauging for your area; strong grasp of production processes.
• Expertise in setups, blueprint interpretation, routers, and setup files.
• Understanding of functional/cosmetic part requirements for quality assembly.
• Working knowledge of basic CNC programming.
• Clear verbal communication across production, management, and technical teams.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing methods and objectives.
• Reliability in following direction and executing tasks as assigned by a Supervisor.
• Commitment to company core values and professional conduct.
• Understanding of Avalign’s Quality System, including Measurement Instruction Sheet layout/purpose, and Avalign’s Compliance Policies.
