Technical Project Manager

Overview The Technical Project Manager role at Tesla involves driving hardware development by managing the execution of new hardware projects, validation, industrialization, and design improvements. This position supports the Engineering team by organizing and tracking schedules and metrics for active hardware projects, acting as the central owner for specific hardware subsystems. The TPM collaborates with Global Sourcing, Supplier Industrialization, and Tesla suppliers to meet production demands and resolve risks to schedules, while also working with cross-functional teams to establish program cadence and ensure successful global implementation across Tesla factories in Fremont, Texas, Shanghai, and Berlin. The role focuses on overseeing the launch of new designs and technologies, particularly for Audio, Antenna, and/or Radio systems from concept to mass production, defining workflows, timelines, risk assessments, and mitigation plans, while fostering collaboration and driving technical excellence. Responsibilities Develop and maintain an interactive product development timeline that shows the details of the development and overlaps supplier and company milestones. Develop and maintain a progress tracker that details and accounts for the variety of development tasks needed during a product lifecycle. Supplier task management: document project tasks, workflow, priorities, and timing of each. Internal team task management: document project tasks, workflow, priorities and timing of each. Work with multiple cross‑functional teams on the development of multiple products, including Reliability, Supply Chain, Quality, Industrialization, Manufacturing, Design, and other engineering teams. Coordinate design changes with cross-functional teams and support their cut‑in into production. Maintain our Product Lifecycle Management system with the latest part numbers, BOMs, assemblies, CAD, drawings, and specifications. Meet with fellow Project Management team members to address program concerns, keeping the team up to date on issues. Proactively identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies. Qualifications Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience; 5+ years’ experience in product development, ideally with multiple delivered products in a medium to high volume industry. Expertise in project management tools (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and methodologies. Familiarity with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software development process. Experience in planning activities and vendor management in an engineering environment. Demonstrated ability to understand complex development projects and identify critical elements. Proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented, with strong technical communication ability. Ability to work cross functionally between engineering, production, and supply chain personnel. Strong knowledge of Jira or an equivalent Project Tracking Software System. Background in Infotainment Audio, Radio and/or Antenna product development. Expected Compensation: $112,000 - $253,200 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on location and experience.
