Description of Job A customer‑service based position involving inspection for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, Milfoil, or other plant species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point on the park. This key role protects natural resources from introduced species that threaten wildlife, drinking water, irrigation, and all water‑related outdoor recreation in Colorado. Primary responsibility is to support the State Invasive Species Program through watercraft inspection and decontamination at various locations throughout Colorado, as needed. Work is performed independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, focusing on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by distributing printed material to visitors. Report directly to the Program Office for assignment; boat inspection training will be provided. When assistance at inspection sites is not required, support the Program Manager and Invasive Species Specialists by performing quality‑control assessments, inventory management, reviewing and editing technical reports, distributing supplies to field locations, and data entry. Position requires regular overnight travel and distance driving; early morning, evening, and weekend work required. Minimum Qualifications Good driving record and ability to travel extensively with overnight stays. Ability to drive long hours and remain alert. Willingness to be flexible with weekday and weekend work schedules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences or comparable work experience. Knowledge of boat and trailer anatomy; ability to trailer boats/decontamination units on highways and steep mountain roads. Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Pursuant to the DNR‑120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State‑owned vehicle must maintain a safe driving record and a valid driver’s license prior to driving any State‑owned vehicle. The New Fleet Vehicle Policy requires Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) review for workers who: Have a State fleet vehicle assigned. Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position. Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle.
