About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Float Pool Profession: Nurse Specialty: Stepdown Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 years of PCU/IMC experience - Experience with cardiac drips, insulin, and ativan - Comfort with titrating and managing cardiac drips Description: Nurses are expected to float throughout the assigned zone. Each zone covers a specific radius from the city center. Travelers are responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating feasible. Schedules are released 4 to 6 weeks in advance with scheduled formats. There are multiple units covering various specialties. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary between 1:3 to 1:4 depending on acuity. There are designated charge nurses on each unit, who generally do not take patient assignments unless necessary. Nurses need to be comfortable with various RT equipment. Shifts are scheduled by leadership for 6 weeks at a time, and flexibility is required. Weekend shift requirements include 6 to 9 weekend shifts in 6 weeks. Nurses may be asked to participate in holiday rotation if needed. Nurse aids are available on the unit. Nurses must float to various acuity levels as needed. Dress code allows any color scrubs. Cancellation policy includes the possibility of cancellation up to 4 shifts during assignments. Experience with specific titratable drips is essential. Common diagnoses include cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, and more. The float assignment will be communicated prior to the start of the assignment.
