Principal Cyber Engineer

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree, or 4+ additional years of IT experience in place of a degree.
• We require 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity or network engineering.
• We need hands-on proficiency with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
• We require direct experience with network virtualization and encapsulation technologies, including EVPN-VXLAN and MPLS.
• We need a strong grasp of traffic management and perimeter security tools such as load balancers, firewalls, and virtualized infrastructure.
• We require experience troubleshooting web application traffic, including a deep understanding of transactions and mutual TLS (mTLS).
• We need a solid understanding of Windows and Linux systems, operating system security practices, and network security concepts.
• We require experience deploying, upgrading, and troubleshooting multi-vendor network platforms and solutions, including Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, and Nutanix.
• We need experience using SNMP-based monitoring tools.
• We require the ability to obtain an IAT Level II certification or higher within 6 months of hire.
• We require an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Preferred: knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) technologies on the NCDSMO approved products list.
• Preferred: understanding of defense-in-depth, resilience, and integrated security operations principles.
• Preferred: familiarity with federal cybersecurity guidance such as NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-137.
• Preferred: practical experience with LANs, firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Preferred: experience working in Agile environments.
• Physical requirement: we require the ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time and occasionally move around the office as needed.

• We partner with engineers, cross-functional teams, and customers at multiple levels to gather, coordinate, and deliver technical information.
• We work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and build complex, highly available network topologies.
• We develop and manage monitoring and alerting strategies using SNMP, flow analytics, packet inspection, and infrastructure telemetry to identify performance issues, capacity limits, and service disruptions early.
• We lead advanced network troubleshooting and root cause analysis across enterprise, data center, cloud, and hybrid environments using packet captures, routing analysis, traffic flow inspection, and protocol-level diagnostics.
• We provide engineering support and system administration for applications and systems, including installation, configuration, maintenance, patching, and backup and restore activities.
• We deliver Tier 2/3 maintenance and engineering support for deployed network and cybersecurity technologies.
• We support Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities tied to cybersecurity technologies, where applicable.
• We create automation solutions for repetitive project work and metrics collection using scripting, with support for testing and production rollout.
• We carry out additional project and corporate duties as assigned to help meet customer mission needs.
