Mechanical TechnicianAs a Mechanical Technician, you will inspect, diagnose, and repair various systems including brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance services such as changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment. Building and maintaining positive working relationships and carrying out instructions effectively is also essential.ResponsibilitiesInspect, diagnose, and repair brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires.Perform preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, fluid checks, battery inspections, light testing, and equipment lubrication.Establish and maintain positive working relationships.Receive and carry out instructions effectively.Maintain regular and predictable attendance.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsElectrical and mechanical troubleshooting.Repair and service skills.Proficiency with hand tools, pneumatics, and hydraulics.Preventative maintenance and diesel mechanic experience.Associate degree or one to two years of related experience and/or training.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Extensive knowledge of vehicle repair.Excellent mechanical repair skills.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.Ability to read service and repair manuals.Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.Ability to read work orders.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Additional Skills & QualificationsMust have own tools and rolling tool box.ASE certified and DOT inspection certified as required by supervisor.EPA Certification for Federal Clean Air Act 609 and 608 as required.Valid driver's license required, with CDL Class A preferred.Why Work Here?Join a dynamic team where your skills will be valued and developed. Employees must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present. Regularly lifting 50 lbs. and occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs. is required. The ability to inspect vehicles, as well as bend, stretch, kneel, and squat, is necessary. Shifts are structured as 4 - 10/hour shifts, with operations open 24/7, offering various day and night hours with one weekend day preferred.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mankato, MN.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
