Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements

• Active California Nurse Practitioner license required
• CA DEA with Schedule 2/2N privileges required
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• NP board certification required: ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
• At least 1-2 years of inpatient neurosurgery experience required
• Strong pre-operative and post-operative patient care skills required
• Skull/crani-based surgical experience highly preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• Comfortable managing adult neurosurgery patients in a fast-paced healthcare setting

Neurosurgery Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient neurosurgery support as a locum tenens Nurse Practitioner
• Manage a patient volume of approximately 8-12 patients per day
• Support post-operative follow-up visits and attend clinic procedures as needed
• Respond to patient messages and collaborate with RN and APP team members
• Assist with inpatient procedures such as drain removal and lumbar punctures when indicated
• Handle outpatient tasks including stitch removal and shunt-related care
• Deliver thorough pre-op and post-op assessments and ongoing patient management
• Partner closely with surgeons and the interdisciplinary care team to support excellent patient outcomes
