Human Resources Program Assistant VISTA

Under the direction of the Human Resources Department, the Human Resources Assistant (AmeriCorps VISTA) will support capacity-building efforts focused on developing and sustaining a structured internship program across multiple departments. The VISTA member willassistwith designing processes, tools, and partnerships that expand economic and professional opportunities for young adults in the Trenton community. This role supports workforce development initiatives by helping standardize intern recruitment, onboarding, tracking, and evaluation processes while strengthening partnerships with local educational institutions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Collaborate with HR staff and department leaders toidentifyinternship opportunities aligned with organizational needs and strategic goals. Assistin reviewing and organizing current HR onboarding materials to support the development of an intern-specific onboarding process and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Support the creation and distribution of surveys or tools used to assess departmental internship capacity. Compile and organize internship program documentation, including position descriptions, learningobjectives, and evaluation templates. Assistin drafting and organizing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with educational institutions, including The College of New Jersey and Mercer County Community College. Track internship placements andmaintainorganized digital records to support program evaluation and reporting. Support outreach materials for intern recruitment. Support scheduling and coordination of intern orientations, check-ins, and program-related meetings. Assistwith collecting feedback from interns and supervisors to help evaluate program effectiveness andidentifyimprovement opportunities. Maintain confidentiality of employee and intern-related information. Cultivate professional working relationships with staff and community partners. SupportadditionalHR operational or administrative needs as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in HR and organizational meetings related to workforce development and internship program implementation. Participate in training and engagement activities associated with the organization’s VISTA program. Assistwith documentation and process improvement efforts that support long-term sustainability of the internship program. Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED Associate orBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other (KSAOs) Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting andfacilitatetraining and engagement activities with diverse groups. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Analytical skills to assessneeds, barriers,opportunitiesand trends. Professional conduct and demeanor with patients and colleagues.
