Senior Software Engineer

About project We are looking for Senior Software Engineers for a digital payments and fintech client. The platform supports business‑critical financial services with a focus on scalability, reliability, and continuous evolution. This role offers an opportunity to work on enterprise‑grade software in an agile environment, taking a leading role in design, development, testing and continuous improvement of backend services, APIs and selected frontend components. The project integrates cloud technologies, DevOps practices and modern development methodologies to deliver secure, scalable and high‑quality solutions. Collaboration is key: you will work closely with software engineers, architects, QA specialists, Product Owners and cross‑functional teams while mentoring juniors and shaping the long‑term technical direction. You will be actively contributing to design, implementation, testing and continuous improvement of the platform taking technical ownership of new feature development from design through delivery developing and maintaining enterprise‑grade backend services, RESTful APIs and microservice‑based solutions ensuring software quality through TDD, BDD and automated testing practices mentoring and supporting less experienced developers with technical guidance and knowledge sharing troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues identifying modernization opportunities for continuous improvement building platform enhancements in line with engineering standards and best practices maintaining high‑quality technical documentation and reducing technical complexity meeting agreed development processes, quality standards and delivery timelines collaborating with architects, QA engineers, Product Owners and peers to deliver high‑quality software contributing to platform architecture discussions and engineering best practices promoting a “one team” engineering culture and developing broad, T‑shaped skills practical experience using AI‑powered assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve productivity, quality or decision‑making in software delivery Your profile extensive commercial experience in software development using Java 17 or newer strong hands‑on experience with Spring Boot, Hibernate and enterprise Java development proven experience designing and developing microservices and RESTful APIs solid understanding of object‑oriented analysis, design and software architecture principles strong experience with SQL and relational databases practical experience with TDD and BDD experience working within Agile software development environments good understanding of DevOps culture, CI/CD practices and modern software delivery experience with Git and tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Tomcat and Apache strong understanding of clean coding practices, SOLID principles and software design patterns experience writing automated tests using JUnit, WebDriver, Cucumber or similar frameworks familiarity with XML and JSON data formats experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting experience working with large‑scale relational databases ability to make sound technical decisions and evaluate complex trade‑offs strong leadership, mentoring and knowledge‑sharing skills excellent written and verbal communication skills proactive, self‑driven and solution‑oriented mindset strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage work collaborative approach with the ability to influence technical direction and challenge the status quo when appropriate Work region Work from the European Union region and a work permit are required.
