Specialist, EHS Staff (R&D)

AbbVie seeks an EHS specialist for its Worcester research facility to develop and implement environment, health, and safety programs in an early-stage discovery laboratory. The role involves regulatory compliance, hazard management, training delivery, and incident investigation under the direction of an EHS Associate Director.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement EHS strategic programs, policies, and procedures for personnel, facilities, and environment protection
• Manage hazardous waste programs, contractor safety, laboratory safety, and high-hazard controls including lockout/tagout and confined space
• Investigate incidents and injuries to determine root causes and contribute to safety performance reporting
• Deliver EHS training on hazard communication, contractor safety, emergency response, and physical safety topics
• Collaborate across internal EHS network to identify and share best practices

Requirements

• High school diploma plus 10 years EHS experience, or associate degree with advanced certification plus 8 years, or bachelor's degree in EHS/engineering/chemistry plus 3 years
• Professional EHS or engineering certification preferred
• Experience implementing EHS regulations and conducting incident investigations
• Technical expertise in EHS functions with strong technical writing and business communication skills
• Ability to build effective working relationships and manage cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, email, and databases
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
