Position Summary The campus Supervisor, Financial Aid Services, is a full‑time (35 hours per week) position at CT State Tunxis. The incumbent provides assistance in the administration and operation of student financial aid for the campus. Responsibilities include detailed work within the student information system, counseling students and parents on personal financial management and the student aid application process, reviewing files to determine eligibility, overseeing workshops, training and supervising staff, and communicating complex regulations to constituents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Providing direction to office staff on the institution's policies and procedures, which may include training exercises. Planning activities to increase public awareness of financial aid opportunities and availability. Counseling students and families on personal financial management and the student aid application process. Operating within a complex student information system and within a fast‑paced higher education environment. Determining student eligibility to receive financial aid funds in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. Managing file review process for completion of verification and resolution of conflicting information. Identifying and determining special circumstances to exercise professional judgement in accordance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures. Analyzing the financial resources needed within the campus to ensure the equitable distribution of financial aid funds from available sources. Preparing reports, both scheduled and upon request. Providing direction, training, and professional development recommendations for assigned staff to ensure the efficacy of the department and the compliant administration of federal student aid. Working with grant, loan, and reporting functions within all federal systems, including COD, CPS, and NSLDS. Administering and awarding financial aid to students meeting eligibility requirements. Reconciling funding, as needed. Assisting in the preparation and submission of the FISAP. Interacting favorably with third‑party vendors. Reading and interpreting federal and state financial aid regulations and guidance. Guiding and directing front‑counter personnel by answering questions and reviewing student accounts with them. Planning and conducting financial aid workshops, information sessions, and paying‑for‑college sessions and other programs such as “FAFSA Month” for internal and external constituents. Maintaining an alpha caseload to ensure necessary documents are received and conflicting information is resolved to allow aid disbursement. Maintaining and managing first‑line workflow and staffing. Coordinating with related offices on campus to ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to. Delivering and participating in training activities and workshops, as needed. Performing other duties as assigned. May involve occasional evening or weekend work. Additional Responsibilities Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies. Service on assigned committees and task forces. Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings which may occur during evenings and weekends. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in an appropriately related field together with one (1) or more years of related experience including up to two (2) years of experience in leading or supervising others; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties. A comprehensive knowledge of state and federal financial aid rules and regulations. Familiarity with funding sources, their policies, and regulations. Demonstrated operational knowledge of a financial aid office. The ability to multi‑task and manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in training and assisting staff members in a higher education environment. Demonstrated problem solving, planning, and organizational skills. Experience with student financial aid audits at the federal and state levels. Experienced user of higher education student information systems. A demonstrated understanding of the mission of a community college. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Preferred Qualifications Four (4) years of related experience. Two (2) years of experience in leading or supervising others. Experience with student information systems like Slate, Jenzabar, Banner, etc. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $74,604 – $79,609 approximate annual.
