Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes to machine precision metal components according to specifications. This role requires strong knowledge of blueprint reading, machining processes, and tool selection.
We are looking for trustworthy, hardworking individuals and willing to train the right candidate if necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate manual mills and lathes to perform turning, facing, threading, drilling, boring, and other machining operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and engineering drawings to determine machining specifications.
- Measure and inspect finished products using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and speeds/feeds for various materials.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and keep work area clean and organized.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine performance, tooling, and material inconsistencies.
- Maintain production documentation and records accurately.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned to support ongoing shop jobs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7-10 years of experience operating manual lathes and mills in a precision machining environment.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and using measuring instruments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other manual machines such as mills, lathes, or grinders.
- Familiarity with machining various metals including stainless steel, aluminum, and tool steels.
