Job Title: E&I Technician / Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The E&I Technician / Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability and supporting continuous plant operations. You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment while adhering to strict safety, preventive maintenance, and quality standards. Working with minimal supervision, you will handle complex mechanical, electrical, and utility systems and provide basic training and guidance to less experienced team members.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment to ensure reliable and efficient plant operations.

• Perform advanced mechanical troubleshooting, including inspecting machinery, modifying and replacing components, and calculating gearbox ratios.

• Diagnose and repair electrical and electro-mechanical issues using electrical tools such as test meters and oscilloscopes.

• Troubleshoot and maintain PLC-based control systems, including PLC programming support and PLC/HMI troubleshooting.

• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation to ensure accurate process control and equipment performance.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam systems, including complex fluid-power systems.

• Support plant utilities by maintaining boilers, compressors, HVAC systems, and dust collectors, and identify and address energy-loss issues.

• Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment and structures as needed.

• Carry out plumbing repairs, basic carpentry, and facility maintenance projects to keep the plant and support areas in good working order.

• Assemble and install new equipment, ensuring proper alignment, connections, and integration with existing systems.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals to plan and execute maintenance work.

• Respond promptly to emergency equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to minimize downtime.

• Apply strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective corrective actions.

• Use all standard tools of the trade, including hand tools, power tools, and machine shop tools, in a safe and effective manner.

• Support aseptic processing operations by maintaining equipment to required cleanliness and performance standards.

• Work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other maintenance and production personnel to prioritize and complete work.

• Provide basic training and guidance to less experienced technicians to support skill development and consistent maintenance practices.

• Follow all safety procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and quality standards while completing maintenance tasks and projects.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use standard hand tools, power tools, and machine shop tools.

• Demonstrated experience with strong electrical troubleshooting and repair, including work with motors, pumps, electrical controls, and production equipment.

• Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam systems.

• Knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical principles and safe work practices.

• Ability to use electrical tools, including electrical test meters and oscilloscopes.

• Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and basic PLC program support.

• Experience with HMI systems and instrumentation calibration.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.

• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills applied to complex equipment issues.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Ability to perform maintenance work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and respond effectively to emergency equipment repairs.

• Capability to support and maintain aseptic processing equipment and processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication experience for equipment repair and modification.

• Plumbing repair skills for facility and process systems.

• Basic carpentry skills for facility maintenance and small projects.

• Experience with equipment assembly and installation in an industrial setting.

• Experience in facility maintenance projects, including structural and utility-related work.

• Familiarity with hydraulics and schematic reading for troubleshooting complex systems.

• Experience supporting utilities such as boilers, compressors, HVAC systems, and dust collectors.

• Ability to identify and address energy-loss issues in utility and process systems.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. You will work around production and facility equipment, including motors, pumps, boilers, compressors, HVAC systems, dust collectors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and steam utilities. The position involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, machine shop tools, welding and fabrication equipment, electrical test meters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic instruments. You will frequently read and work from electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals while performing maintenance tasks. The environment may require responding to urgent equipment issues, working around moving machinery, and supporting aseptic processing operations. Work hours may vary with production and maintenance needs, and you will collaborate closely with maintenance and production teams to support continuous plant operations while following all safety and quality procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Savannah, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
