Vice President & Chief Clinical Officer

Responsible for overall clinical operations management and regulatory compliance for clinical areas.

Essential job functions include oversight and leadership of physician relations, recovery operations, and donor care and surgical recovery unit operations. Serves as a staff chair for critical care committee and transplantation community of practice committee. Collaborates with the chief stakeholder engagement officer to drive donation improvements and hospital engagement. Implements and executes policy decisions set forth by the board. Manages and directs organ and tissue procurement departments. Maintains relationships with local transplant centers and oversees management of all MTN personnel involved in organ/tissue recovery activities. Works directly with the medical director(s) to guide organ donor care, physician relationships, and quality and safety. Responsible for development and establishment of policies and protocols for the donor care and surgical recovery unit, organ/tissue donor evaluation, management, recovery, safety, and allocation. Monitors quality improvement strategies and effectiveness of donor assessment and organ/tissue recovery. Assists chief financial officer in managing a budget for the clinical areas on an annual basis.

Organizational representation and development includes communication and media functions with staff, board, and external sources. Significant travel responsibilities. Ensures organizational compliance with OPTN, FDA, CMS, and other external agencies. Involvement with organizational promotion. Contract negotiation. Oversight of annual budget preparation and fiscal effectiveness.

Qualifications and physical demands include a bachelor's degree in nursing or healthcare administration required, master's degree preferred. Minimum ten years experience in administration/healthcare leadership, preferably in progressively responsible leadership positions, required. Experience with a comparable sized OPO or healthcare organization strongly preferred. CPTC certification or ability to obtain certification within two years required. Ability to self-motivate and function autonomously. Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills. Proven leadership, motivation, and organizational planning skills. Flexible, adaptable, and dependable. Demonstrated ethical character attributes. Must maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy. Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including some nights and weekends for meetings. Ability to lift 10 pounds and transfer short distances. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers, and office equipment. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone. OSHA Category II Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties. Bloodborne pathogens protection is required. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
