Job Description and Duties
Under direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst (AN) II performs a variety of complex budget-related tasks and fiscal analysis for the Division’s multi-funded budget, including preparation and analysis of Budget Change Proposals, reviews the Governor’s Budget for accuracy, and analyzes the potential impact to the Division by conducting baseline allotments, administrative projections, quarterly summaries, and budget formats. The AN II ensures fiscal details and requirements are met related to Project Approval Lifecycle, Financial Analysis Worksheets, Special Project Reports, Post Implementation Evaluation Reports, and Information Technology (IT) Procurement Plans. The AN II performs reconciliations of project funding documents for IT projects that are visible to control agencies and must meet stringent rules and regulations. The AN II researches and tracks budget trend information, budget related vacancy projections, as well as special ad-hoc reports. The AN II provides full journey level analytical and staff support for planning and evaluation activities as well as takes the lead over the AN I staff. The AN II in a lead capacity, as needed, will provide guidance and mentorship to the partnering AN Is through development, preparation, and presentation of training sessions to staff. The incumbent will provide feedback to management throughout the training period and update training plans as necessary. The AN II continuously and independently analyzes and prepares reports on the Division’s budget and must be knowledgeable in all matters pertaining to the budget which is necessary to keep management updated at all times. The AN II independently prepares and reviews all budget documents: Budget Letters, Executive Orders, and Department of Finance Reports, and related fiscal documents using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other resources.

Working Conditions
This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.
This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
