Health Teaching PositionThere is a Health Teaching position open for Mansfield Senior High School for the 2026-2027 school year. Job goal: To provide leadership for learning at the classroom level. Performance responsibilities include positive relationships, high expectations, care and concern, standards-based teaching, facilitator of learning, master of the subject matter, persistence, technology, and reflective practice. Qualifications profile includes a valid Ohio teaching certificate/license in the appropriate subject area or grade level(s), demonstrates flexibility, demonstrates talent in successful teaching as reflected in student performance-based and standardized assessments, demonstrates a problem-solving attitude, believes and models the refrain that all students can learn, demonstrates excellent attendance and recognizes the connection of outstanding attendance to the relevance, rigor, and cycle of teaching and learning. Essential functions include meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a program of study, creating an environment conducive to learning, preparing for classes assigned, designing and implementing meaningful, dynamic lessons, addressing the learning needs of students, assessing the accomplishments of students, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records, assisting the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, making provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day, planning and supervising purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s), striving to maintain and improve professional competence, attending staff meetings and serving on staff committees as required, applying knowledge of current research and theory based on school objectives, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and administrative staff, speaking clearly and concisely in written and oral communications, performing duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies, utilizing excellent organizational and time management skills, utilizing excellent written communication skills with students and all persons within the school community, demonstrating experience and proficiency in the use of technology, displaying excellent verbal (including listening) and non-verbal communication skills, demonstrating ability to work independently and productively, supporting the vision and mission of the district in all efforts, and other duties as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent, or his/her designee. Physical requirements include ability to drive an automobile, ability to travel freely throughout the building, ability to lift, carry or move equipment or supplies weighing up to thirty pounds, ability to manage balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, or standing, ability to communicate effectively using language and writing skills, ability to participate in and facilitate the exchange of ideas leading to a group consensus, ability to react productively to frequent interruptions and changing conditions, ability to accurately discern detail in written, statistical, and tabular materials, ability to analyze data and present alternative actions and solutions, ability to set priorities, organize and complete duties efficiently without supervision, ability to maintain a tactful disposition in dealing with administrators, staff, students, parents, and the public, and responsibility for the safety or well-being of other people. Conduct includes remaining free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the District, serving as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings, and having a moral responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. Terms of employment are per the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education/Mansfield School Employees Association Negotiated Agreement.
