HR Manager

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead all day to day human resources operations for its Cumberland, Wisconsin manufacturing facility. This is a highly visible, hands on leadership role responsible for supporting employees and plant leadership while ensuring the facility remains well staffed, compliant, safe, and aligned with company policies.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and can confidently balance employee relations, recruiting, compliance, safety, performance management, and day to day HR administration. Previous manufacturing, food processing, agriculture, or other high-volume operational experience is strongly preferred.

Schedule: Full-time | First Shift

During the annual pack season (approximately June 15 through October 15), salaried managers should expect to work approximately 9 to 10 hour days , including one weekend day . Weekend coverage is required to support plant operations; however, if production activity slows, managers may leave early while remaining available by phone and on-call should operational needs arise.

• Base Salary: $80,000 to $100,000
• Annual Bonus: Up to 7.5%

Position Summary

The HR Manager serves as the primary Human Resources partner for the facility, providing leadership and guidance across the entire employee lifecycle. This position works closely with plant leadership to recruit, develop, retain, and support employees while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and company employment policies.

Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and plant leadership.
• Lead recruiting activities including sourcing, interviewing, candidate selection, offers, onboarding, orientation, transfers, promotions, and separations.
• Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records, employment documentation, EEO records, performance documentation, and other required HR files.
• Interpret and communicate company policies, procedures, benefits, and employment practices to employees and supervisors.
• Partner with leadership on employee relations, coaching, performance management, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
• Administer workers' compensation programs and partner with plant leadership to support workplace safety initiatives.
• Coordinate and facilitate employee and supervisor training programs.
• Conduct exit interviews and manage separation documentation.
• Support compensation administration, wage surveys, affirmative action requirements, and other regulatory compliance initiatives.
• Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency, compliance, employee experience, and confidentiality.
• Assist plant leadership with workforce planning and organizational support as business needs evolve.

Required Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, relevant education, or an equivalent combination of both.
• Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, policy administration, personnel records, and employee separations.
• Working knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work onsite in a manufacturing environment and enter production areas while following required safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Human Resources experience within food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), agriculture, manufacturing, or another high-volume production environment.
• Experience administering workers' compensation, safety programs, employee investigations, EEO and Affirmative Action reporting, wage surveys, and compliance initiatives.
• Experience supporting hourly, seasonal, union, or variable workforce populations.
• Experience with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems (ATS), payroll interfaces, and Microsoft Office.
