Job Summary

Join our dedicated team as a Registered Nurse in the New Beginnings Birth Center in Lamar, Colorado. This vital role focuses on providing comprehensive, compassionate care to women throughout their labor, delivery, and postpartum journey, as well as direct care for their newborns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a full spectrum of maternal and infant care, including patient assessments, monitoring labor progression, assisting with deliveries and procedures, administering medications, and providing essential patient education. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, adherence to infection control principles, and the ability to provide emotional support in a dynamic birth center environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive direct patient care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum mothers, and their newborns.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously monitor the labor process.
• Prepare patients and assist with procedures such as C-sections and inductions.
• Administer IV medications safely and accurately.
• Educate patients and families on maternal and infant care.
• Prepare the delivery room and ensure a sterile environment.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families throughout the birthing process.
• Coordinate patient transfers as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all nursing care.
• Adhere strictly to principles of infection control and departmental policies.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) program.
• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in Obstetrics or Labor & Delivery.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or ability to obtain within one year of employment).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or ability to obtain within one year of employment).

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency in labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursing care essentials.
• Strong understanding and application of sterile technique and infection control principles.
• Demonstrated technical skills in mother/infant care.
• Ability to perform effectively and maintain composure in high-stress situations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.

Shift Details

• Days per Week: 3 days per week (36 hours total)
