Financial Analyst II OR Senior Financial Analyst - RRE Carolinas Finance FP&A

The Senior Financial Analyst position is responsible for day-to-day cost management, accounting and financial analysis, business planning and key operational finance functions to support the Regulated & Renewable Energy (RRE) Carolinas organization from jurisdictional and functional basis. This position provides direct support to multiple leaders within the RRE organization with budget oversight and responsibility of O&M and capital spend of approximately ~$1.2 billion. This position provides end user financial reporting support for management, operational and external reporting. This position requires blended knowledge of technical and functional financial reporting and analysis skills. It works closely with the organization to analyze and report variances, trends and plans, to develop consolidated financials for all jurisdictional reporting and forecasting, to define and improve reporting requirements, and to collaborate with CARG and Fixed Assets as needed. The role maintains accuracy of standard financial reports and responds to inquiries. Regulatory knowledge includes environmental clause cost management and other pass-through items. Effective leadership, communication and collaboration skills are essential given cross-jurisdictional responsibilities. Depending upon desired qualifications, the hiring manager may elect to fill at a higher level. Responsibilities Ensure timely and accurate analysis and reporting: Provide and present accurate and relevant financial analysis and management reporting to the RRE Organization and respective senior management to enable strategic decision-making Analyze and consolidate management financial reporting including actuals, budgets and forecasting/projecting year-end impacts including variance explanations Analyze data, identify and correct errors to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information Coordinate and support month-end close activities Prepare, check and post journal entries and accruals as needed Assist in preparation and review of governmental filings, including quarterly and annual FERC reports, rate case support, insurance claims and recoverables as needed Work with internal & external auditors; provide necessary information & answer questions as needed Assist in SOX documentation updates and management testing Maintain good working knowledge of accounting policies and impacts as required Ensure effective budget & business planning process: Support the budget and business planning process including communication of budget guidance, assumptions, and calendars for assigned sections Validate budgets uploaded to correct target amounts Develop and support department budget, strategic plan and related presentation material Work closely with and at the direction of appropriate management during the business planning process for input and dialogue on business plan and budget content Coordinate t #J-18808-Ljbffr Duke Energy
