Construction Manager

Job Summary Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to serve as the primary on‑site leader for large‑scale renewable energy projects. The role involves bridging the gap between engineering design and physical execution, managing site mobilization, civil activities, installation of production equipment, mechanical completion, and initial energization to bring systems into service. Essential Functions (Responsibilities) Provide safety leadership on site and ensure all contractors and affiliates (EPC, BOP, OEM) adhere to the project safety plan. Promote an onsite EHS culture that fosters a zero‑injury environment. Understand and monitor project budget(s), schedule(s), invoicing, draw requests, and change orders. Lead a team of contract inspectors or specialists to monitor and ensure the project is built in accordance with contract, plans, specifications, and scope of work. Interface with all project team members and varied internal and external departments to track issues, facilitate and expedite solutions. Maintain clear and concise communication, keeping accurate records and thorough documentation throughout all project phases. Act as the stakeholder liaison, serving as the point of contact for landowners, local, state, and executive governing authorities, project‑associated utility companies, financial, legal, and engineering firms. Qualifications Strong understanding of construction safety requirements; OSHA 30‑Hour, CPR First Aid, AED, and NFPA 70E qualifications preferred. Experience managing construction QA/QC programs covering civil, structural, substation, interconnection, SCADA workmanship. Capability to evaluate third‑party engineered quality tests (geotechnical, concrete, electrical, fiber). Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil/electrical/mechanical engineering, or equivalent field experience. Minimum of six (6) years renewable energy construction management experience that includes civil and electrical construction, PV, wind turbine, and BESS installation techniques. Experience managing renewable energy project contracts and OEM supplier agreements. Ability to navigate project documents such as IFCs, contracts, exhibits, PPAs, GIAs, land leases, etc. Extensive project management skills with a record of delivering complex projects on time and on budget. Effective communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills. Strong PC skills and software proficiency. Strong managerial and time‑management skills. Flexibility to work at locations across North America for the majority of the year, including an intensive and extended work schedule. Physical Demands • Climb ladders up to 125 meters and obtain a Tower Rescue certification. • Lift, push, pull, or carry items up to 50 lbs. • Walk and stand on disturbed ground for extended periods and distances. • Enter confined spaces and work at heights above 125 meters. • Work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions. • Periods of sedentary activity may be required.
