Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist

Overview Gillette Children's is seeking a full‑time outpatient speech language pathologist to join our rehabilitation team at our 435 Phalen location. The speech pathologist will provide speech therapy services primarily to pediatric patients and occasionally to adults with childhood‑onset disabilities. Shifts are Monday‑Friday, hours potentially from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with occasional weekend and evening work as part of the inpatient weekend rotation. Schedule Schedule: Monday‑Friday; weekend and evening differential of $1.75 and $2.35 per hour respectively. Purpose of Position Provides direct and indirect family‑centered therapy services to increase functional abilities, independence, and community integration. Contributes to department, program, and service teams to assure achievement of desired outcomes. Compensation & Benefits The hourly wage is $35.46 to $53.17 with a median of $44.31 per hour. Pay is based on work experience, education, certification, licensure, and internal equity. Core Responsibilities and Duties Completes an evaluation using principles of family‑centered care. Designs assessment consistent with evaluation goals, provider orders, patient and family input, and priorities. Obtains necessary history and background information. Selects evaluation methods, tools, and environments to obtain valid and reliable assessments specific to the patient’s age, development, neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, cognitive, and behavioral status. Administers evaluation consistent with best practices and Gillette competencies. Interprets evaluation for the patient and family and seeks their assessment of reliability and validity. Makes recommendations for treatment, referrals, equipment, resources, and home and community activities. Documents and bills for evaluation based on guidelines from the Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare Rehabilitation Therapies Revenue Cycle Team. Qualifications Required: Professional Licensure / Registration Speech Language Pathology State License Pending credentials: Registration and Licensure pending, not to exceed three months in this status and completion of CFY for Speech Language Pathology. Current certification in CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association) or must obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Competency in speech language pathology evaluation, treatment, and related family/community education and planning for transition to community services. Preferred: ASHA Certification strongly preferred for Speech Therapists. Pediatric experience strongly preferred. Feeding clinic experience. Experience with AAC devices, including programming. Knowledge of child growth and development, rehabilitation theory and practice with a wide variety of childhood‑onset diagnoses and related considerations including anatomy, neurology, emotional behavior factors, family needs and issues, community transition, and equipment. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to function as an effective team member.
