Automotive Paint Masker

Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Pay Rate: $18 - $22 per hour (DOE)
Shift: Monday - Friday | 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an Automotive Paint Masker to join its automotive paint team. This position plays a critical role in the vehicle refinishing process by preparing vehicles and components for paint through precision masking, applying vinyl graphics and masks, and assisting painters throughout the paint process.

The ideal candidate has experience in an automotive paint or collision repair environment, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in producing quality results with attention to detail.

Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles and components for painting by masking off surfaces to protect against overspray.
• Apply vinyl masks, templates, and protective materials for various paint projects.
• Ensure all masking materials are applied accurately to meet production and quality standards.
• Assist painters with final masking prior to paint application.
• Remove masking tape, paper, plastic, and protective materials after the paint process is complete.
• Inspect vehicles and parts to verify masking accuracy and identify any areas requiring correction.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow established quality, safety, and production procedures.
• Support painters and other paint team members as needed to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Previous experience in an automotive paint shop, collision center, body shop, or manufacturing paint environment preferred.
• Basic understanding of automotive paint processes and paint products.
• Experience applying masking paper, tape, plastic, or vinyl preferred.
• Basic computer skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, kneel, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
