Junior Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate (New York)

Job Description Summary:Fenwick & West is looking to expand its Chambers-ranked Privacy & Security practice by adding a junior associate with two to four years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law as it relates to business transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, licensing and other technology transactions, and general commercial contracting.Job Description:Fenwick & West is dedicated to serving technology and life sciences companies, from innovators to market leaders in such industries as artificial intelligence, social media, gaming, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles, cryptocurrency, and digital health care. We provide our clients with comprehensive cybersecurity legal services, from governance, preparedness, and compliance to data breach response, and defense of regulatory investigations and multidistrict class-action litigation.The ideal candidate will have:A solid understanding of federal privacy laws (e.g., TCPA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, and the FTC Act), state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA), international privacy laws and regimes (e.g., GDPR), and technology and data flows;Experience counseling clients on privacy compliance aspects of transactional work, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, capital markets transactions, and technology transactions;Experience with drafting privacy and security policies, negotiating privacy-related contracts or data processing agreements;Superior academic credentials;Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; andStrong professional references.Experience with AI counseling is desirable but not essential.Exceptional candidates looking to transition to privacy and cybersecurity with experience in either M&A or technology transactions will be considered.Bar membership in the jurisdiction where applying (as appropriate) or eligibility to take the next available exam is required.Applicants should complete our online application and include a cover letter, resume, and law school transcript.Agency recruiters: please submit separately via your agency's Workday portal.#LI-HYBRIDBenefits and Compensation Details:At Fenwick, we believe that our partners and employees are our most important asset.
