In this hourly, wage-based role, you'll provide essential care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those who exhibit maladaptive behaviors.About UsAt Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) we serve citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are an intermediate care facility operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) where we support individuals in state-of-the-art homes with accommodations unique to their specific needs. Our employees are our most valuable asset, and we take time to invest in their health, wellness, and happiness.About the RoleAssist individuals with daily living activities such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and communication.Provide emotional and behavioral support to individuals with maladaptive behaviors.Implement behavior intervention plans as developed by the interdisciplinary team.Promote independence and self-determination in a safe and structured environment.Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and support staff to deliver comprehensive care.Maintain accurate documentation and follow established safety procedures.These positions are considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency or facility need. All SEVTC positions are required to work different shifts and/or overtime as requested.This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.Position numbers W0014, W0097, W0314 and W0059 will be filled from this posting.Training RequirementAll new hires must successfully complete SEVTC's Pre-Service Training Program. This class is for 10 days, held Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Direct Support Professionals. Training includes:Person-Centered PracticesCPR/First Aid CertificationTOVA (Therapeutic Options of Virginia)Medication AdministrationNutritional ManagementPhysical/Behavioral ManagementSkills and experience required:"We are looking for candidates who are passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in their lives."
