This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced sports and events professional to lead the operations behind a growing portfolio of volleyball tournaments.
You’ll own the event experience from planning through execution, with a strong focus on athlete, coach, and partner satisfaction.
The role combines event strategy, people leadership, cross-functional coordination, and financial accountability.
You’ll recruit and manage event directors, contractors, and interns while building systems that enable consistent, high-quality execution.
Working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, you’ll have significant autonomy to turn ideas into action and improve how events are delivered.
Your work will directly influence the experience of thousands of athletes and coaches while supporting the growth and profitability of the volleyball events business.
The position is remote within the U.S. and includes approximately 10% weekend travel during peak event seasons.
Accountabilities
- Event Operations & Experience: Own and continuously improve the volleyball event experience, using participant feedback and NPS results to identify opportunities for stronger execution and satisfaction.
- Event Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, develop, coordinate, and manage event directors, contractors, and interns, ensuring teams are well prepared and positioned for success.
- Staff Performance: Evaluate event staff following each tournament and provide feedback to maintain high standards of quality, accountability, and professionalism.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with internal teams to manage event checklists, planning activities, timelines, and brand meetings, ensuring all operational requirements are addressed.
- Financial Performance: Take ownership of event economics, monitoring costs, margins, and operational quality while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
- Operational Planning: Manage multiple tournaments, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously, building scalable systems and processes that support continued growth.
- Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with event directors, officials, facilities, partners, athletes, and coaches to support smooth event delivery and long-term success.
Requirements
- Sports & Events Experience: 3+ years of experience running or managing events, tournaments, or sports operations, ideally in a high-profile or fast-paced environment.
- Volleyball Expertise: Genuine passion for and strong knowledge of competitive, year-round girls' volleyball, with a clear understanding of the youth and high school volleyball landscape.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and manage event directors, contractors, interns, or other operational teams.
- Ownership Mindset: Highly self-motivated, energetic, and proactive, with the confidence to make decisions, solve problems independently, and take full accountability for results.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple events, checklists, deadlines, and stakeholders without compromising quality.
- Business Acumen: Comfortable working with budgets, costs, margins, performance metrics, and other financial or operational measures.
- Communication: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and work with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly and new challenges require practical, creative solutions.
- Technology: Familiarity with tools such as Asana, Slack, and Google Workspace is a plus; experience with EOS/Traction methodologies is also desirable.
- Industry Network: Experience in youth or club sports, recruiting, or an existing network of event directors, officials, or facilities is advantageous.
- Travel & Eligibility: Ability to travel approximately 10% of weekends, primarily during peak event seasons. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship; only U.S. citizens are currently eligible.
Benefits
- Competitive compensation: Target salary of $70,000–$80,000 , depending on relevant skills and experience.
- Flexible work arrangements: Remote work options, with flexibility to work from home or an office environment.
- Comprehensive health benefits: Access to health coverage and a range of employee benefit programs.
- Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with Safe Harbor matching.
- Financial protection: Long-term disability and basic life insurance coverage.
- Paid time and support: Benefits designed to support wellbeing and work-life balance.
- Professional development: Opportunities for training, learning, and continued career growth.
- Autonomy: A high-trust environment that gives employees the freedom to take ownership, make decisions, and have a meaningful impact.
- Mission-driven culture: A collaborative, energetic workplace focused on helping student-athletes succeed.
- Meaningful impact: The opportunity to directly shape experiences for thousands of athletes, coaches, and sports communities each year.
