The Sandblaster plays a crucial role in preparing metal surfaces by using abrasive blasting techniques to remove rust, paint, and contaminants. Working primarily within a small team of 2-5 members, this position demands strict adherence to OSHA compliance, company-specific safety procedures, and environmental regulations to ensure a safe and effective operation. The role requires both technical skill in equipment operation and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal surfaces for finishing by removing rust, paint, and other contaminants through sandblasting
• Operate sandblasting equipment efficiently and safely
• Comply with OSHA safety standards, company safety procedures, and environmental regulations
• Handle abrasive materials and other supplies carefully to avoid contamination or injury
• Perform routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Select appropriate abrasive materials based on the surface and treatment requirements
• Dispose of waste materials according to environmental guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Entry-level experience in sandblasting and equipment operation
• Knowledge of surface treatment techniques for metal surfaces
• Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA)
• Familiarity with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Physical stamina to handle demanding work conditions
• Effective teamwork and communication skills
