SPA is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to lead and enhance the company’s core accounting operations with expanded responsibility over team leadership, multi-workstream oversight, and creation and implementation of internal controls. This role ensures accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and scalability of SPA’s financial close and reporting environment.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals.Oversee delegation and workload distribution across multiple workstreams.Foster a culture of collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement.Month-End Close, General Ledger, & Multi-Workstream OversightDirect and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules.Ensure general ledger accuracy and strong documentation standards.Manage multiple accounting workstreams (cash, revenue, fixed assets, payroll, intercompany, etc.).Review financial results and resolve issues as needed.Internal Controls & Process DevelopmentDesign and implement a scalable internal control framework from the ground up.Develop standardized accounting policies and procedures.Lead process automation and workflow optimization initiatives.Partner with FP&A, Operations, and IT to improve system efficiency and data integrity.Financial Reporting & Audit SupportOversee preparation of internal management reporting packages.Support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation.Lead audit support activities and manage documentation requests.Provide financial analysis to support leadership decision-making.QualificationsExperience and Education8–12+ years of progressive accounting experienceDemonstrated experience leading teams and managing multiple accounting functionsBachelor’s degree in Accounting requiredCPA requiredExperience in government contracting or complex environments preferredKnowledge and AttributesStrong knowledge of US GAAP and controllership best practicesDemonstrated experience operating in a SOX compliant environmentAbility to build and strengthen internal controls and scalable processesStrong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skillsExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsExperience with ERP systems; Deltek Costpoint experience is a plusAbility to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentPay Range InformationAt SPA, we strive to deliver a robust total compensation package that will attract and retain top talent.
