Assistant Group Leader

Assistant Group Leader Position Summary We are looking for Assistant Group Leaders who will be responsible for planning and facilitating learning, recreational, arts and developmentally appropriate activities for youth tied to the mission of PAL. The Assistant Group Leader will report to the Center Director. What You'll Do Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth in K-8th grades. At all times, ensure safety, structure, and learning. Provide supervision during field trips, transitions, and meal times. Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication, and behavior. Attend meetings with staff, parents, volunteers, and community residents as needed. Interact with parents and keep open lines of communication. The Commitment Able to work 15 hours a week (3 hours a day, 5 days a week). Able to attend 15 hours of orientation prior to the beginning of programming. Able to attend scheduled staff meetings. Qualifications High School Diploma / GED OR 1 year experience working with children under 13 years of age. Must be at least 18 years old. Strong classroom management and behavior management skills. Desire to learn and grow. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. Ability to complete DOHMH/DOE clearances and fingerprints, including that an annual physical has been completed in the last year. Who You Are A fast learner. Have rigorous attention to detail. When you make mistakes, you own them. Ask questions when you don't understand. Find the positive in negative situations. Know how to communicate effectively by phone, email, text, on social media and in person. Are proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, and have a desire and ability to learn the technology necessary to improve workflow, whatever that may be. Are willing to take on tasks that may fall outside of your job description -- this will happen, you roll with it. Compensation The salary for this role is 17.00 an hour.
