Description Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Department: Maintenance and Facilities
Primary Reports To: VP of Maintenance and Facilities Secondary Reports To : VP of Growing Operations/Operations Manager/Head Grower Job Summary: The Maintenance Team Member is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep of the nursery or farm facilities, equipment, and grounds. This role ensures that all systems and machinery are functioning properly and safely to support the daily operations of the nursery or farm. Requirements Key Responsibilities:

- Facility Maintenance:

- Perform regular inspections of buildings, greenhouses, storage areas, and other structures to identify maintenance needs.
- Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical, and ventilation systems.
- Paint, clean, and perform other cosmetic maintenance tasks to keep the facilities in good appearance.
- Equipment Maintenance

- Properly perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, cleaning of radiators, fluid levels checked/maintained, and greasing/lubrication of moving parts.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs performed on all equipment.
- Grounds Maintenance:

- Maintain nursery or farm grounds by mowing, trimming, weeding, and removing debris when seasonal help is not available.
- Repair and maintain fences, gates, and other barriers to ensure they are secure and functional.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of landscaping features such as irrigation systems, paths, and garden beds.
- Safety and Compliance:

- Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas to prevent accidents and injuries, including storage rooms, pump houses, warehouses, and any other location identified by the supervision.
- Conduct safety checks on all equipment and facilities and report any hazards or violations to management.
- Other Duties:

- Assist with seasonal tasks such as planting, harvesting, and preparing the nursery or farm for different weather conditions if seasonal help is not available.
- Support other staff and departments with various maintenance-related tasks as needed.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to stay current with maintenance practices and safety procedures.
- Employees may be required to perform additional tasks or responsibilities not specifically outlined in their job description, as directed by leadership, to meet the evolving needs of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in maintenance, repair, or a related field, preferably in an agricultural or horticultural setting.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and carpentry work. Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in farm or nursery maintenance.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, perform physical labor, and work in various weather conditions. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods.
- Certifications: Certification in first aid, or CPR is a plus.
- Other: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- The role may require flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the nursery/farm. Baucom's Nursery seasonal busy seasons are August through October, and again February through May. This will require weekend hours as directed by the supervision.
