Planning Manager

Planning Manager (Exempt) Schedule: Monday–Thursday 7:00 AM–6:00 PM (4×10 work week). Holidays and special events attendance required. 10–20 % travel is expected. Compensation: $68.7250–$92.0982 hourly ($142,948.02–$191,564.26 annually). Responsibilities: Direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of Planning Division staff. Plan, schedule, assign, and review planning projects, including data collection, analysis, plan formulation, implementation, and maintenance of planning and zoning activities. Review and process complex projects, providing interpretation of the General Plan, zoning, and subdivision ordinances. Coordinate activities with other divisions, city departments, outside agencies, and organizations. Participate in planning commission and other public body meetings, presenting projects and recommendations. Typical Qualifications: Master’s degree in planning or a closely related field and five years of professional planning experience, including two years of administrative or supervisory experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in planning or a closely related field and seven years of professional planning experience. Valid Class C California driver’s license with a clean driving record. American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certificate highly desired. Benefits: Medical insurance coverage up to $3,000 / month for employees and eligible dependents. Dental and vision insurance – city pays employee month premium. Health reimbursement arrangement (HRA) – up to $2,000 / year; additional $2,000 / year for hospitalizations. Life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance up to $150,000 / year. Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) participation. Vacation leave – 120 hours accrued annually. Sick leave – 96 hours accrued annually. Management leave – 75 hours accrued annually. City contribution to a 401(a) plan up to 2 % of employee annual salary. 13 paid holidays (11 statutory holidays and 2 floating holidays). Credit Union membership. Employee Assistance Program. Tuition reimbursement for job‑related degree or course up to $7,500 / year; loan repayment up to $250 / month.
