Structural Engineer

We're hiring a Structural Engineer to support structural engineering services for industrial projects in oil and gas, manufacturing, power generation, and substations. This role covers conceptual design, calculations, and analysis for structures ranging from steel and concrete systems to overhead transmission and substation structures, working alongside designers and other technical disciplines on integrated project teams.

Schedule: Full time.

Compensation: $120,000 to $140,000 per year, based on experience.

What You'll Do

This role provides conceptual design of structural supports and prepares structural calculations and analysis, including structural loading per ASCE 7, IBC, and other applicable codes, static and dynamic analysis (response spectrum, time history, and transient), steel structure and connection design, and foundation and retaining wall design. You'll produce structural design sketches for designers and drafters using AutoCAD, conduct walkdowns and site visits of existing facilities, and review as-built drawings and existing conditions to collect and document data. The role also involves reviewing customer and vendor information from subcontractors and integrating it into design solutions, performing structural observation, and coordinating closely with other technical disciplines to execute project schedules while maintaining quality. Depending on project assignment, this position may also provide structural engineering support for overhead transmission line structures and substation structures, including structure attachments, load path development, foundation reactions, and design criteria consistent with ASCE 113 and related utility standards, along with review of vendor drawings for poles, lattice towers, crossarms, and line hardware. Travel up to 25% of the time to customer and project locations is required to coordinate designs and collect data.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant structural engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, California PE license preferred
• Experience in structural steel and concrete design
• Experience with dynamic analysis (response spectrum, time history, and transient)
• Proficiency with RISA 3D, RAM Connection, MathCAD, AutoCAD, Excel, and Microsoft Office
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to climb ladders and stair platforms, lift up to 10 pounds, and perform site walkdowns and inspections
• Ability to travel up to 25% to customer and project locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Structural Engineer (SE) license
• Experience in overhead transmission line design (ASCE 10, 48, 74)
• Experience in substation structure design (ASCE 113, IEEE 693, 605)
• Familiarity with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, or PLS-Tower software
• Prior internship experience in structural engineering
