Behavioral Health Therapist

Job Summary This role supports mental health programs and initiatives developed through the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium, with a focus on improving the quality and accessibility of mental health care for children and adolescents across Texas. The Behavioral Health Therapist (LPC, LCSW, or LMFT) delivers counseling and care management services using a patient-centered, collaborative approach with an interdisciplinary team, supporting children and adolescents enrolled in programs such as the Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT). Essential Job Functions Conduct behavioral health assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices. Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy sessions as needed. Monitor patients for suicidal or homicidal intent and ensure patient safety, intervening in crisis situations when necessary. Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the clinical record and ensure compliance with professional ethics and federal/state regulations. Participate in supervision, quality assurance checks, and interdisciplinary team consultations. Coordinate care with referring practitioners, families, schools, and project staff to ensure continuity across settings. Attend required training workshops, meetings, and staffing sessions; stay current with best practices in pediatric mental health and contribute to a culture of continuous learning. Execute additional duties as assigned, such as community outreach, program evaluation, and support of grant-funded initiatives. Collaboration: Work cooperatively to achieve shared goals, coordinate with pediatricians and educators, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings. Self-Development: Seek feedback, engage in continuing education, and incorporate new research into practice. Handling Ambiguity: Navigate uncertainty, manage unpredictable behaviors, and maintain composure during crises. Education & Experience Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and/or family systems. Proficiency with electronic systems including Google Suite, Trayt, Athena or Epic, and Calendly. Licenses and Certifications Current Texas licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Preferred Qualifications Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish. Salary Range $68,000 plus depending on qualifications. Working Environment & Equipment Standard office equipment and repetitive keyboard use. Occasional weekend, overtime, evening work, and interstate/international travel as needed. Field work and exposure to potential occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous medications.
