The Cook's Helper under supervision of an assistant cook, head cook or a supervisor the employee performs the routine duties involved in the production and serving of food and in cleaning kitchen facilities and equipment as assigned. This is the entry and general helper level in the school meals program. Employees in this class receive on-the-job training in the basic food production and cafeteria operations from an assistant cook, head cook or a supervisor. Education, Experience and Certification/License (Minimum Qualifications) Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described within this job description Current Food Handler’s Card or ability to obtain one upon hire No experience required. Skills and abilities are learned on the job Able to lift, push and pull 40 lbs on a continual basis Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of national school lunch and school breakfast programs Experience in the foodservice industry Compensation Wage Schedule: $17.45 - $21.93 per hour*26/27 wages TBD Medical, dental and vision insurance Life insurance, AD&D, Long term disability included (Optional insurances available) Personal days and Sick days JCSD 509-J pays the employee's share (6%) of the Public Employees Retirement System Contribution Application Process: Interested candidates are required to apply at the following link: with online application, letter of interest, current resume and professional references.
