PSYCHIATRIC SOCIAL WORKER I/CORRECTIONAL HEALTH

Essential Job Functions Interview individuals, families, and significant others to obtain family, social, employment, medical, substance abuse, and mental health treatment history. Plan and conduct the client’s therapy program under supervisory guidance, considering treatment goals, priorities, length, and modality of therapy. Provide psychotherapy to individuals, groups, families, and significant others. Request LPS‑authorized persons to complete an application for immediate 72‑hour detention at a hospital facility. Interview persons seeking psychiatric assistance on an emergency basis and utilize crisis intervention techniques to prevent hospitalization. Serve as a member of a mental health emergency intervention team and/or joint law enforcement/mental health emergency intervention team to evaluate behavior and determine risk of danger. Develop a tentative CCCP to resolve or cope with mental or emotional problems, including individual, group, family, or marital counseling, case management, and referrals to other treatment sources. Provide case management services to secure resources for clients, families, and significant others to achieve treatment goals. Assist clients, families, and significant others in discussing reactions and attitudes concerning mental health problems and co‑occurring substance abuse disorders, encouraging cooperative resolution of the problem and minimizing stress on social functioning. Work with families and significant others toward acceptance of and participation in treatment recommendations. Assess client functioning in the environmental setting. Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences to discuss and evaluate the nature of the client’s problem, progress, and develop the CCCP. Qualifications Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work. Valid and active Associate Clinical Social Worker license issued by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Behavioral Sciences. Must become registered as an Associate Clinical Social Worker within sixty (60) days of employment and remain in good standing for the duration of the waivers permitted by law. Must obtain full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker within four (4) years of appointment if employed full‑time, or six (6) years if employed less than full‑time. Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to use alternative transportation when required. Physical classification: Light physical effort including occasional light lifting up to ten (10) pounds and some bending, stooping or squatting; considerable walking may be involved.
