Under the direction of the Emergency Shelter Director, the Child and Family Advocate provides case management and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence residing in shelter. This role focuses on crisis intervention, intake services, emotional support, child advocacy, and psycho-educational programming. The Advocate works directly with children and parents to promote safety, healing, and well-being during a potentially traumatic time. This position supports the organization's mission to foster resilience, promote safety, and restore hope among individuals impacted by domestic violence.

Pay Range: $21.75 – $22.50 per hour Position Type: Full-Time Shift: Four 10-hour shifts weekly (schedule determined by program needs) Location: Arapahoe County, Colorado (On-site shelter services)

Child Family Advocate Responsibilities

Provide crisis intervention, screening, intake, assessment, and trauma-informed advocacy services to survivors of domestic violence and their children, including emergency response and follow-up support.

Conduct child and family assessments; facilitate psychoeducational groups, structured children's activities, and parenting support.

Maintain accurate and timely client documentation, ensure compliance with safety and security protocols, and use mediation skills to resolve client concerns.

Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to coordinate services and referrals. Assist with light housekeeping tasks as needed including carrying groceries, etc.

Community & Outreach

Maintain knowledge of community resources and participate in outreach or speaking engagements as required to support client services. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Commitment to the mission and core values of Three Birds Alliance and ability to work effectively with individuals in crisis. Minimum of one year of experience in human services, social work, or crisis intervention, with working knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and trauma-informed care. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency with general office technology. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in service delivery and workplace interactions. High level of integrity and strong interpersonal skills when working with clients, colleagues, and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

CPR and First Aid certification. Bilingual (Spanish)

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Human Service, Social Work, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
