Nutrition Services Administrator 2 (NY HELPS)

Job Summary The Nutrition Services Administrator 2 will organize and oversee both the Total Food Service Program and the Clinical Dietetic Program. They are responsible for developing food‑service policies related to treatment plans and care, participating in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) practices, and serving as a nutrition services liaison and educator for medical, clinical, administrative, and direct‑care staff. Responsibilities Develop food‑service policies related to treatment plans and care. Participate in QAPI practices and performance improvement initiatives. Serve as a nutrition services liaison and educator for staff and volunteer agencies, providing guidance, direction, and training on nutrition counseling, procedures, food preparation, sanitation, and safety standards. Assist in employee selection, conduct and supervise inspections of food preparation and service areas, and oversee the development and implementation of corrective action plans to ensure compliance with nutrition standards and regulations. Consult with nutrition and healthcare staff to coordinate care, resolve issues, ensure that individuals’ nutritional needs are met, and develop/monitor program budgets. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent‑permanent, or 55 b/c service in a Grade 21 or higher position, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil State Law. Current registration with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or certification in Dietetics‑Nutrition by the NYSED; and three years of post‑registration/certification professional administrative experience in a food or nutrition program, two years of which must have been at a supervisory level. For provisional appointment: must be a current NYS Department of Health employee with one year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/55‑c service as a Nutrition Services Administrator 1 or Dietitian 2. Either have a current RD registration or an NYSED certification in dietetics‑nutrition with an additional 400 hours of supervised practice under an RD. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a long‑term care setting.
