Compensation:
- Floor Shifts: Current server base hourly rate + an additional $5.00/hour premium (plus standard floor tips)
- Administrative/Meeting Shifts: $15.00/hour flat rate (for non-service times to perform admin duties or during team meetings)

Position Overview
The Lead Server is a hybrid role designed for top-performing service professionals who balance floor shifts with leadership development. In this position, you will continue to take table sections and earn tips on your shifts. However, you will also act as a vital bridge between staff and senior leadership. You will be responsible for contributing to and writing front-of-house Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists, lead the onboarding and training of new hires, manage schedules, and hold floor staff accountable to daily side work and service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor Accountability & Delegation: Act as the designated shift leader during your scheduled hours. Give clear direction, delegate operational duties to floor staff as needed, and ensure no server leaves their shift without verified, 100% completed side work.
- Onboarding & Designated Training: Serve as the official trainers for incoming front-of-house hires. Guide trainees through our menu, hospitality expectations, POS usage, and floor rhythms to ensure consistency.
- SOP & Checklist Development: Draft, refine, and implement practical FOH checklists, side work sheets, and service SOPs.
- Scheduling & Shift Coverage: Take operational ownership of FOH scheduling using Sling. Build weekly schedules according to stated headcounts, actively manage daily floor cuts, and coordinate emergency shift coverage for sudden call-outs.
- First-Line Performance Coaching: Deliver real-time, constructive verbal coaching and guidance to team members regarding guest service, teamwork, and operational standards. Note: Serious performance interventions-such as written warnings or Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)-are escalated to and conducted solely by senior management.
- Systems Management: Utilize Toast POS to authorize comps and voids when necessary, assist servers with basic troubleshooting, handle immediate guest complaints with empathy, and support smooth shift transitions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1-2+ years of high-volume, full-service restaurant serving experience. Prior experience as a shift lead, trainer, or captain is a plus but not required.
- Leadership Style: Confident, fair, professional, and an excellent communicator. You must be comfortable stepping out of a "peer" mindset to hold coworkers accountable to restaurant baselines.
- Tech Savvy: Familiarity with Toast POS and Sling (or similar shift-scheduling platforms).
- Availability: Must be able to anchor a consistent schedule that guarantees a Lead Server is present during all designated priority leadership shifts (specifically targeting daytime/brunch hours for current operational needs). Flexibility to work weekends and holidays is required.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (7+ hour shifts) and lift up to 50 lbs.
