Registered Respiratory Therapist

This is a 13-week contract position.

Rotating Shift - 12 x 3

Under the general direction of a physician and by prescription, the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. Responsibilities span all patient populations and service areas.

Responsibilities:

• Read prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess conditions and determine treatment requirements.
• Evaluate the appropriateness of medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
• Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas administration apparatus.
• Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment.
• Observe patient's physiological responses to therapy and perform pulmonary function tests for diagnosis.
• Maintain patient charts with pertinent identification and therapy information.
• Assist in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and respond to all code situations.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and assist patients in breathing exercises.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory program.
• 2 years of experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT) license.
• State Licensure as required.
