The Academic Advisor II supporting the CON is responsible for advising undergraduate nursing students from their first day of class until they graduate from the College. An Academic Advisor serves as a front-line contact for undergraduate students with developmental advising to empower students to meet their academic and career goals, maximizing student success and retention. They interpret information and provide clarification on procedures and academic requirements. They will determine whether degree requirements have been fulfilled, counsel students on options to satisfy degree requirements, refer students to appropriate student success resources, and report student data. The Academic Advisor II is able to provide reliable academic advising independently and continues to enhance their advising competence. This position may be able to complete 1-2 days per week remote and/or a flexible schedule.

As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities Academic Advising:
- Academic Advising of entry nursing program students completed through email, phone, in person, and Zoom interactions.
- Academic Advising includes student support of navigating university policies, such as general education, in addition to College of Nursing specific policies and practices.
- Ensures that Academic Advising resources are published and distributed to students.
- Coordinates transfer credit evaluation with Academic Advising leadership and faculty.
- Assists students navigating academic eligibility policies to support student success.
- Respond to student inquiries and concerns in a professional, timely manner.
- Using student data to ensure student success. This will involve using student data and tracking tools to ensure student persistence and enrollment, implementation of university policies (e.g. course repeats), and degree requirement completion.
- Maintain undergraduate student advisement reports, making appropriate exceptions.
- Complete student degree audit worksheets and complete degree checks or gradpath forms.
- Maintain proper records of students in the program and progression through it.
- The Academic Advisor II will collaborate other CON team members to curate resources, videos, and presentations to help orient students to the University, campus resources, and the College of Nursing.
- Responsible for delivering advising presentations to new students as well as associated student advising.
- Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Ability to support and advise students with degree completion.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, service-oriented office environment - including responding to walk-in questions.
- Ability to continually improve processes to enhance the student experience.
- Ability to effectively use administrative systems, databases and standardized software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
