Bilingual Phlebotomist – English/Spanish

Location: Riverhead, NY
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay: $19–$23 per hour

MedStaff Group is recruiting an experienced and dependable Bilingual Phlebotomist for a busy healthcare organization in Riverhead, NY. Candidates must be fluent in English and Spanish .

The Phlebotomist will collect and process specimens, maintain accurate documentation, and provide patients with a professional and comfortable experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and capillary blood collections safely and accurately.
• Verify patient identities and laboratory orders before collecting specimens.
• Label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Follow proper specimen-handling, storage, and transportation procedures.
• Document collections and patient information accurately in the electronic health record.
• Explain procedures and communicate clearly with English- and Spanish-speaking patients.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked phlebotomy area.
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, Article 28, and laboratory safety requirements.
• Immediately report patient reactions, collection complications, labeling concerns, or specimen issues.
• Assist with additional clinical duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish is required .
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
• Previous phlebotomy experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, laboratory, or similar healthcare environment.
• Strong venipuncture and specimen-processing skills.
• Knowledge of patient-identification, infection-control, and specimen-handling procedures.
• Strong communication, organization, and patient-service skills.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of phlebotomy experience.
• Current phlebotomy certification.
• Experience using eClinicalWorks .
• Experience in an Article 28, primary care, or multispecialty medical practice.
• Experience working with pediatric and adult patients.

Compensation: $19–$23 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
