Equipment Engineer (90-115K)We have an excellent opportunity for an Equipment Engineer to join an established advanced components manufacturer in the Binghamton, NY area.This is a hands-on equipment engineering role focused on equipment reliability, troubleshooting, process improvement, and optimization. You’ll work directly with a mix of automated and legacy manufacturing equipment to improve performance, reduce downtime, and maximize production uptime.Job Duties:Troubleshoot, commission, and optimize new automated equipment and existing legacy machinery to maximize equipment uptime and production performance. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, controls, and process-related issues involving PLC/HMI systems, machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, welding, fastening, sensors, tooling, and fixtures. Use PLC/HMI systems primarily for equipment troubleshooting and problem localization, coordinating with equipment suppliers when programming changes or additional technical support are required. Lead equipment and automation projects including vendor coordination, installation, validation, production ramp-up, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, technicians, and outside vendors while providing technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers and technicians. Education and Experience:BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline preferred; AAS with strong electro-mechanical/automation experience will also be considered. 3+ years of hands-on automation, equipment, or manufacturing engineering experience supporting production operations. Strong mechanical/electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills and working knowledge of PLC/HMI and industrial controls; advanced PLC programming is not required. Experience with automated manufacturing equipment including machine vision, robotics, motion systems, pneumatics, sensors, tooling/fixtures, welding, fastening, or automated inspection. Strong shop-floor manufacturing experience, project leadership, root-cause problem solving, and equipment/vendor coordination skills.
