Shift :-

1st Shift: 0600 - 1500

2nd Shift: 1400 - 2300

3rd Shift: 2200 – 0700

Material department - 3 openings – 2 on second 2nd , 1 on 3rd shift

GA/Production has 2 openings (still deciding on what shifts are open for this department) 

May need to rotate and change departments – GA/Production, quality department, material department

Possibility of rotating shifts, they will be placed where the needs are

Expectation is to be available to work all 3 shifts

Onsite 5 days/week

Work location - MI - Lansing Delta Township ASSY, STPG - 8175 Millett Highway - Administration Bldg

 

Job Responsibilities:
As a Production Group Leader, you are responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment. Participates in training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members. Participates in the development of highly effective teams. Leads Global Manufacturing Systems processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas. Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements. Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management. Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between Client and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues. Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping. Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods. Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training). Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.

 

EXPERTISE

- Understands and follows established processes in their area and knows how to use systems and technologies to accomplish work assignments. Typically has practical working experience in all processes within their area.

- Provides instructions to direct reports on course of action and serves as a resource for them on standardized work, quality standards and processes within the area, as well as relevant company policies and procedures.

- Works under moderate level of supervision. Collaborates effectively with more senior members of the team, seeking guidance and absorbing knowledge to address and solve issues.

 

COMPLEXITY

- Carries out designated routine tasks, ensuring timely completion. Errors in decision-making or failure to achieve desired outcomes may result in schedule delays. Consistently meets unit targets as scheduled.

- Offers direct supervision to a unit or team of employees. Addresses and resolves any issues faced by team members, proactively mitigates conflicts to prevent escalation, and assigns tasks while closely monitoring progress at regular intervals.

- Proactively anticipates needs of the areas managed, by consistently training and rotating team members to ensure that there is no disruption in the execution of work.

- Engages in daily interactions with subordinates and/or peers from other functional groups. These interactions typically involve the exchange or presentation of information.

 

SCOPE AND IMPACT

- Handles a range of moderate scope problems that are frequently routine but may vary, requiring analysis of various factors. Utilizes judgment within established procedures and practices to determine the most suitable course of action. Follows through on difficult situations and is expected to see through resolution.

- Proposes new initiatives and leads the delivery of solutions, driving cross team efforts. Recommends opportunities for process improvement to leadership & proactively anticipates needs within own area.

- Builds relationships with team members and provides resources to them when needed. Ensures that the team managed is set up for success and approaches resolution to conflict equitably and objectively.

- Employee’s impact is typically within their immediate work area and occasionally across their function.

 

Education Requirement: High School Diploma

Years of experience: 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment

 

Previous experience working with a union environment – nice to have

Previous leadership experience – nice to have

Report outs to upper leadership

Meet metrics/goal setting

Problem solving skills – very important to have

 

Soft skills – being able to lead a team and being a leader rather than a boss, being able to get the job done, knowing how to speak respectfully to people

 

1-2 years of experience in manufacturing environment

Computer skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Ability to work cross functionally with other teams
