About the Role:

The Deli Clerk is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining deli food items while providing excellent customer service. This role ensures food quality, cleanliness, and compliance with food safety standards while maintaining an efficient and welcoming deli environment.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and provide friendly, efficient service.
• Prepare deli items such as sandwiches, salads, meats, and cheeses according to company recipes and standards.
• Slice meats and cheeses using deli equipment safely.
• Package, weigh, and label food products accurately.
• Maintain clean and organized food preparation areas.
• Monitor food quality and freshness; rotate stock using FIFO methods.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Restock deli display cases, refrigerators, and supplies as needed.
• Operate cash register or point-of-sale system when required.
• Follow all company policies and health department regulations.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Attention to detail when preparing and labeling food items
• Ability to safely operate deli slicers and other kitchen equipment
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 25–40 pounds.
• Frequent reaching, bending, and handling of food products.
• Ability to work in refrigerated environments.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced deli or grocery store environment.
• Experience with kitchen equipment, sharp tools, and refrigerated storage areas.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous deli, food service, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
